Sean O’Farrell
I’m a painter based in Lancaster, where I create contemporary oil paintings inspired by the city’s streets, architecture and the quiet moments of everyday life. My current body of work, Moments Between, explores the overlooked spaces we pass through every day and the fleeting encounters that often go unnoticed
I graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Fine Art from the University of East London in 1995. After university I worked for more than a decade in a bronze sculpture foundry before moving to Lancaster, where I spent the next twenty years working as a stonemason.
Although my professional life moved away from painting, drawing and observation remained a constant. Returning to oil painting has brought together those years of making with a renewed appreciation for the character of Lancaster and the everyday scenes that shape its identity.
